Kathryn Shapiro

Kathryn Shapiro, Secondary Counseling Liaison
Mrs. Shapiro is originally from Silver Spring, Maryland, but found her way to Richmond, Virginia, through her undergraduate experience at the University of Richmond. There she met her future husband and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in theater and a minor in business administration. After working in the theater industry, Mrs. Shapiro went on to earn a master’s in education in school counseling (K–12) from the college of William and Mary. Following her graduate program, Mrs. Shapiro has spent the last three years working at Atlee High School. In addition to being a school counselor at Atlee, she also coached the dance team for two and a half years. Mrs. Shapiro currently lives in the city of Richmond with her husband and shepherd mix, Jake. In her spare time she loves to cook, bake, read, and go for long walks around the city.



Christina Freeman

Christina Freeman, K–2 Counselor
Mrs. Freeman was born in Charlottesville, Virginia. She attended James Madison University where she earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology. Mrs. Freeman then earned a master’s in education, school counseling K–12, from Old Dominion University. Mrs. Freeman is beginning her seventh year as a counselor. Her first three years were spent in Williamsburg at Norge Elementary School. She then became the counselor at Pearson’s Corner Elementary School, and she is super excited for the adventure of being the K–2 counselor at the Hanover County Online School. Mrs. Freeman is celebrating her fifth wedding anniversary this year. She absolutely adores her baby girl, Ivy, who is one and a half years old. Mrs. Freeman also has a golden retriever named Pete who considers himself an honorary OWL! When she isn’t working, Mrs. Freeman loves running, cooking, and going to the beach.



Jennifer Gray

Jennifer Gray, 3–5 Counselor
Mrs. Gray graduated from Longwood College with a bachelor of science degree in sociology. Upon graduation, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University and earned her master’s in education for school counseling PK–12. Mrs. Gray is beginning her 23rd year of school counseling. She started her counseling career as a middle school counselor at Caroline Middle School for three years and then came to Hanover County as an elementary school counselor. Mrs. Gray grew up in Hanover County and is a proud graduate of Hanover County Public Schools. She has been married for 20 wonderful years and has awesome 15-year-old twin sons and a German Shepherd dog who is her shadow. Mrs. Gray enjoys spending time with her family and playing the piano.
